Hello! My Name is Tessa Gunnell, I am currently a Sophomore industrial design student at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA. I just transferred to SCAD last fall so I am still aclimating to this new school, but I am really enjoying Savannah so far!
I was drawn to the field of industrial design because I love the way it combines problem solving with artistic vision. I want to create art that lives, breathes and fulfills a purpose. The title of my blog comes from my desire to create nature inspired designs, from looking at patterns in nature. I have been very inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy, Norah Gaughan, and the wabi-sabi aesthetic of Japanese tea ceremony pottery. In addition, I want to use recycled and sustainable materials as much as possible in my work so that I can be a good steward of the inspiring nature that surrounds me!
